Muammar’s Choice. To live like Idi or die like Nicolae?

Looking into the ‘Revolution-End-Game’ crystal ball, I predict a short and violent end for umbrella-loving, ice cream van fetishist, Muammar Gaddafi.

Remember how Nicolae Ceausescu, Romania’s  once unassailable ruler-for-life ended his career in 1989? First there was the huge rally at which, unbelievably, a once-cowed population booed his speech, like this:

The fun starts at around 2:35

This was swiftly followed by bloody battles between his loyalists and the Army – which had prudently worked out which way the wind was blowing. A short ‘court hearing’ followed with a squad of Romanian paratroopers emptying their AKs into the unhappy couple.

The end.

Idi Amin Dada (up to 400,000 people are believed to have been killed under his rule) conversely, escaped the righteous vengeance of his long-suffering people and spent the rest of his life in exile in Saudi Arabia.

Muammar’s definitely made his choice to go like Nicolae.
